There are various hobbies that activate the prefrontal cortex and drawing is one of them. However, when it comes to drawing a picture, the threshold is high for beginners, so “coloring books” maybe a better choice. Many coloring books that cater to adults are detailed, such as seasonal landscapes, mandala-like miniatures and masterpieces, which has become quite popular among middle-aged and older women. Coloring may seem like a simple act, but the brain works a wide range of areas such as the occipital lobe, temporal lobe, frontal association area and frontal lobe.
\nHowever, it is said that the method of painting is an important point in order to activate the prefrontal cortex, because it does not have the effect of activating the prefrontal cortex just by applying it carelessly. As a result of examining the effect of coloring books by Tohoku University’s Institute of Development, Aging and Cancer (IDAC), it was found that there are individual differences by simply painting with colored pencils, and it cannot be said that the prefrontal cortex is necessarily activated.
\nIt seems that the most effective way of coloring is by adding shades of color and blurring. It was also found that the brain is further activated by using a technique like drawing, where shades are applied with a single pencil and painted separately. In other words, more detailed work is important. So, why not go back to your childhood days and enjoy coloring this autumn season!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
