It is known that “reading aloud” is effective for activating the brain, but it has been found that English is more effective than Japanese.
Reading aloud in Japanese is also very effective and reading aloud in Japanese and English is almost the same in activating the brain; however, with English, the Broca area of the prefrontal cortex is more active than in Japanese. This is the part that works when processing language and speech. By reading aloud sentences where the grammatical system is different from that of Japanese, it is thought to be more active.
However, as to whether the same effect can be expected in other foreign languages such as Korean, which is close to Japanese grammar, it did not show much difference from Japanese. The point is that learning a language like English with a different grammatical system and reading it aloud is good for activating the prefrontal cortex in the brain.
